A founding shareholder of the firm, Bob chaired the firm’s Tax and Estate Planning Department, and was co-chair of the firm’s Municipal and Land Use Department. His practice focused on Municipal, Land Use, Tax, Business Law and Litigation for forty-three years. He steadfastly provided counsel to individuals seeking to plan their estates utilizing wills, trusts, powers of attorney, living wills and health care proxies, helping clients minimize their potential tax exposure. Bob often appeared in court on behalf of estates and beneficiaries to make sure a decedent’s intentions are fulfilled.
Bob served as the attorney for numerous municipal boards and governing bodies in Monmouth, Middlesex, Mercer and Morris counties for more than 40 years. He argued many significant cases in municipal and land use areas of the law on all levels of the New Jersey Court system. In addition, Bob provided guidance for his corporate and private clients and advice on corporate transactions, tax and succession planning to all types of businesses, including medical practices.
He was a former Deputy Attorney General for the State of New Jersey where he provided counsel to the New Jersey Division on Civil Rights.
For his outstanding work and success helping victims of the 9-11 attack on the World Trade Center, Bob was one of the recipients of the 2004 Public Justice Achievement Award – given jointly by Trial Lawyers Care, Association of Trial Lawyers of America, and New Jersey and New York State Trial Lawyers Association. This award is presented in recognition of those “who achieve remarkable victories in cases proving that trial lawyers, working together, can dramatically advance the public good.”
Bob Muñoz was a tremendous colleague, a skilled lawyer, and a dear and faithful friend. One of his greatest accomplishments was building a firm staffed by extremely talented people. Bob had an unbridled love of the law and was widely respected by judges, attorneys, and his clients. However, his first love and passion was for his family. He was a dedicated husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather and brother. He was a good and decent man who will be sorely missed.
